DC Twestival Local 2011 On Washington Twestival

Social good through social media can make a tremendous impact for any nonprofit and reach people that may have otherwise not been aware of a need. Twestival, Twitter Festival, has been able to ignite the passion in volunteers and charity supporters on a global level using social media and fundraising that benefits either a global nonprofit or a local nonprofit. Last year alone, Twestival’s second year running, over $400,000 was raised across the world through events in various cities to benefit the global nonprofit, Concern Worldwide. DC Twestival proudly contributed over $6000 to that effort helping bring books, cleaner water systems and teachers to Liberia through Concern Worldwide!

On March 24, 2011, DC Twestival will rock the nation’s capital with an event to benefit a local nonprofit. All funds raised from ticket sales and sponsorship will go to the chosen nonprofit 100% and in full! We will use Twitter to spread the message and Facebook to connect with fans and supporters. Updates will be added to the DC Twestival blog to keep you informed and connecting you with the chosen charity to know why its worth your time to attend one of the great nonprofit social good events of 2011! The committee is working make this year’s event fun and informative. If you would like to volunteer register on Twestival.com and we will be happy to add you to the volunteer team!

DC Twestival 2011 Call For Charities

Twestival2010_photo_collage
Its time for social media and social good to shake hands again in Washington, DC! Twestival Local (Twitter Festival) is set to run events in cities across the world on March 24, 2011 in support of a local chosen nonprofit organization. The DC Twestival team is in the planning stages to gather ideas of who YOU, the public, would like to see represented as this year’s Twestival Local Charity benefactor! We will take your feedback through the comments.

Suggestion for what to tell us:

  • Name your charity
  • Why you want your chosen charity nominated?
  • How you are connected to them?
  • What great benefits they offer the DC community?
  • Anything great you can think to share

Criteria for nominating your favorite nonprofit:
  • Must be a registered Washington, DC nonprofit
  • If it is a large organization, the Headquarters must have a Washington, DC address
  • It is preferable the nonprofit has a currently established Twitter account and is active

Twestival, founded by Amanda Rose, is a global event! Remember, cities around the world are participating and we want Washington, DC involved from the start! As an example, Miriam’s Kitchen was the first ever charity benefactor for Twestival Local and we had such a great experience with them and the work they do for the community. Share someone new with us in the comments and we look forward to tweeting and meeting you.
